Our Family loves to watch Lucy chase the laser. She gets so worked up over trying to chase it down. The second she hears the chain jingle, she starts getting excited and searching frantically for the little red light. Then once she spots it she starts ah running. We take her out back every night so she can run back and forth after it. After we turn the laser off, she will still search around for it for a good 30 minutes. It is my kids favorite thing to watch her run in circles after the red dot. They are literally rolling on the ground with laughter. She is a nut, but shes our nutty dog and we love her.

Happy Mother's Day
Here they are acting a bit crazy as usual. This is our family on one of our many adventures this past week. This one took place in the Canyonlands, on the Needles side of the park. I will be posting pictures later of a wedding, a baby shower, camping and hiking. Very exhausting but a VERY FUN week.
I feel pretty lucky today to celebrate Mother's Day today. I love my job and I love my kids, but I am exhausted!!! I feel blessed to be the Mom of Dallin, Eliza, and Spencer. Thanks you guys for making me a better person and a Mom trying to do her best. I love you guys. Happy Mother's Day to all of you other Mom's out there.

Faking Sick
So this morning Dallin did not want to go to school and he went to some extreme lengths to see that he got to stay home. After breakfast he came downstairs and said that he had thrown up. Steve went up to see what was going on. He took one look in the toilet and gasped, then he got really worried and questioned Dallin. "You through that up? Dallin that doesn't look good. When you have throw up like that, it means you have encephalitis. Quick Dallin we need to get you to the hospital, they are going to have to sick a giant needle into your throat up into your brain to make sure you don't die." Dallin at this point was starting to back track, "No Dad, I don't have that, I'm just sick." "No, Dallin we need to get you to the hospital quick."
"Dad, Dad I'm not sick." Dallin finally came clean. He used my lotion and squirted it into the toilet. Just wanted to share the encephalitis thing, so you can use it on your kids, when they try and fake sick on you.

Airsoft WARS
I texted this out the other day but for those of you that didn't hear it I have to share. Dallin and Eliza were upstairs. They were supposed to be doing something, but were sitting talking on the bathroom floor. I over heard Dallin tell Eliza, "Well pretty much every girl in the school has a crush on me, except one." He thinks he is such a ladies man.

The Royal Ball
It was The Royal Ball this weekend. Girl Scouts hosts a Daddy, Daughter dance every year around prom time. So today right after baseball we rushed home to get Eliza all ready for her big date. We painted her fingernails, roll brushed her hair, did her makeup and then zipped up her dress. "My dress has got really tight," she told me. "It even hurts to breath." I asked her, "do you want to switch and wear another one?" She paused for a second and then responded with this, "No, that's ok, I don't really need to breath." I was dying laughing inside. I was also so proud she is already sacrificing for fashion. I just answered back, "Yeah, who needs to breath anyways? " Then we just laughed it off together. I guess Steve had to keep unzipping her dress through out the night so she could take some deep breaths.
So Dad showed up, very well prepared.(thank you Emily) He gave her a dozen red and pink roses along with a wrist corsage. She had a boutonniere for him. Back to the pick up, he rang the doorbell and she got to come down the stairs, all the while her dad was telling her how pretty she looked. She was so embarrassed, and was acting cute and silly.
Baseball Opening Ceremonies
We are officially in the full swing of baseball. We are at the fields about 4 days a week, now that games have started. As long as the weather is nice I don't mind, but spring time in Flagstaff is WINDY and cold. So I will be taking a sleeping bag to the games (no lie). Dallin and Eliza are both on great teams with lots of friends and excited to play.

Pinewood Derby
Dallin had a lot of supporters at the big race. I was at Micheal's and saw these foam fingers. I thought it would be so fun for the kids seeing me cheer from the stands with one of these. The other side says GO ELIZA.
Dallin and Taige both made it to Districts. Or pack race was interesting. There was a lot of illegal cars, which had me and some other parents kind of upset. Luckily Dallin still won first place in his den, which qualified him to go race in Districts. In the overall race he got bumped out about half way through racing against one of the illegal cars.
Dallin and one of his really good friends Taige both made it to districts. It was a very fun, intense, and nerve racking day for the both of them, and there Mother's.
Let the competition begin. Dallin and Steve take this Pinewood Derby thing very seriously. About a month before the race Dallin drew up a picture of what he wanted his car to look like. Along with how fast he wanted it to go, 3 mph. Then he and his Dad drafted it on the computer and printed out the pattern to copy when they cut the cars shape. Dallin did all the sanding and painting himself. Steve drilled the weights in and together they did the finishing touches. It is very serious business.

The smile after a big win.
Dallin ended up taking 2nd place in the first heat which moved him onto the finals. He came in 5th place overall. I could tell he was fighting back the tears when he lost. It's so hard to watch your kids loose. Especially when he put his whole heart and sole into making this car. I am embarrassed to say I was trying not to cry right along with him. It's tough being a Mom. His buddy Taige ended up in 4th place and we had to go through the same emotions all over again. Here is the conversation we had after he lost. I told him how proud I was of him and that he should be proud to. Out of about 100 cars he has the 5th fastest and that is amazing. Then I said, "How about I take you guys out for ice cream to celebrate?" Dallin's response was, "No, but do you know what would make me feel a lot better? If you took me to Target to get Bakugan battle gear." He is trying to play me for a fool. We ended up going out for pizza with friends. He is one smart boy.
